Being in the business of helping clients buy and sell homes we asked our agents the same question, what does home mean to you? Has the meaning or idea of "home" changed over the past year and a half? Here's what we heard:
"Home is comforting. It provides protection from the elements as well as a sense of accomplishment and peace of mind. It is where the best memories of our lives are made. It is the place to which we most look forward to returning when we are away. It is financial security against changing economic conditions and an investment in our future. For these reasons, and many more, homeownership has been and forever will remain the Greatest American Dream."
"Home to me means family, fun, peace and relaxation."
"Wherever my kids are is home to me"
"HOME! is where you find love, happiness, peace, and serenity."
"Home is a place where I get to be myself. It's a place of relaxation, celebration, education, growth, reflection, and hospitality - all on my own terms."
"A home is any place where you are comfortable, and feel as if you can be yourself. A place where you are safe, protected, respected, and loved."
"Home to me means family, safety and security. A place to unwind after a long day's work, where you can truly let loose and be yourself with no judgement!"
"Home to me is where I feel most at peace; wrapped in feelings of security, content, and belonging."
"To me, home is a feeling not a building. My safe place, my refuge, my calm. Home is where I am free to design my life on my own terms, where I am accepted for who I am with no judgement and endless support."
" 'HOME' means to me a place where children and grandchildren can freely go and feel like they belong. Where friends can enjoy their time, not judge us for the dog hair dust bunnies floating around, make a drink, laugh out loud and enjoy a visit. Where we can do home improvements together and enjoy our space. And finally, it's where memories are made!"
"Home is my oasis, my quiet place, where I am most comfortable and can be myself. It's my place of renewal and rejuvenation. It's my base of operations, and my launching pad. It's my mess. It's where my circle begins and ends. It's home."
