Located 4 miles west of Waterville, the town of Oakland, Maine is an easy commute to the state capital, Augusta, by way of I95. Known as the Gateway to the Belgrade Lakes Region, Oakland is a quiet town with a rich history.
Home to four lakes, Oakland is a hub of year-round outdoor recreation. Oakland hosts an annual three-day summer festival known as Oakfest. Events include a fishing derby, triathlon, parade, and more!
Oakland Schools
Oakland is a member of the RSU 18 school district which also serves Belgrade, China, Rome, and Sidney. Preschool through second grade aged children attend Atwood Primary School, third through fifth-grade students attend Williams Elementary School, sixth through eighth graders attend Messalonskee Middle School, and high schoolers attend Messalonskee High, all of which are located in Oakland.
